With his sunglasses and rocker look, Alexandre Milan has woken up Le Mont Saint Michel, French brand established in Normandie in 1913. The label builds on its knitwear traditionnal know-how for clothes with a preppy look.
Who are you?
Alexandre Milan, I design the collections of Le Mont Saint Michel.
How did you start in fashion?
I've always lived in this world. In our family, we have been doing knitwear for a long time. I always wanted to have my own label.
How would you define your style?
Neo-traditionnal. If we know all about the classics, it is to better reinvent them. Between France and Great Britain, our style would be best defined as preppy, but with an original twist.
What inspires you?
Tradition and pop music. Women also.
What are you most proud of?
To be able to transmit our experience and our textile know-how, and to try to do it with style and modernity.
Where do you manufacture your products?
Where they will be the most beautiful !
Le Mont St Michel still produces parts of its knitwear in France. Factories close the one after the other, and the spining industrie has disappeared so it's starting to be very complicated. It is very expensive but it's important for me.
Where can we find your collection?
In 15 countries, from the US to Japan. In Europe and France of course.
